"DADS," Dads and Daughters Saturday Strengthens Relationships

By Heather VacLav

A new program debuted in Montgomery to focus on building father-daughter relationships. Ron Simmons came up with the idea for "D.A.D.S" or Dads and Daughters Saturdays, after making his usual Saturday trip to the library with his daughter.

SImmons says fathers spending time with their daughters is not only important in the short term, but how it affects their relationship in the long term.

"It's a companionship with your daughter(s), so your setting the stage of how later on a young man should treat a young lady," Simmons said.

"They will know about reading, they will know the importance of reading they will know the importance of a relationship with their father," he said.

DADS will continue every second Saturday of each month. For more information about joining, call Ron Simmons at 334-777-8596.
