County Road 22 will be widened and repaved, thanks to state funding. The project also includes an overlay of Hysco Drive.
Mayor Dexter McLendon tells CBS 8 News the project will give trucks with heavy equipment a smoother and safer ride.
"We have a great opportunity to bring more jobs into Greenville," Said McLendon. "And that's the reason why we want to get this road up to standards... to be able to handle the large trucks that are going in and out of this area."
County officials say the project will start next month and take 3 to 4 months to complete. The pricetag is nearly three-quarters of a million dollars.
Upgrades are coming to a road in Greenville.. after seven years of planning.
