Construction of Riverfront Amphitheater in Selma Making Progress

By George McDonald

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  Construction of the new amphitheater on the riverfront in Selma continues to make steady progress.

Phase I of the amphitheater construction project is scheduled to be finished in the next few weeks.

City officials say Phase II of the project should start in May.
During Phase II, the bowl seating area will begin to shape and the stage for the amphitheater will be put into place.

"There's lots of things that that amphitheater can be used for that'll bring money into the city, that'll bring activities for people to come out and be together, all kinds of activities and it will add to our community," said Selma businesswoman Jewell Williamson.

Phase III of the project will focus on the entrance and concessions stands for the amphitheater.
City officials say the amphitheater should be complete by around November or early next year.
