From the West Alabama Newsroom--  A State Board of Education investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct in the Selma City School System is complete -- and a report of their findings has been issued to the school district.

The school district has been directed to submit a corrective action plan to address the findings -- which include -- failure to adequately report and investigate allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior -- grade-changing to pass failing students -- manipulating data to increase A-Y-P scores -- and a variety of testing irregularities.

Selma resident Kimesha Alvarado has a son who attends Selma High School. She says she's glad the state has gotten involved.

"I believe we need to be very cognizant and paying attention to the issues that the state is presenting to the school board," said Alvarado.

"We need to really push our school board members to act on these issues because our children's education is based on it and if our kids don't have a great education they really will leave Selma with nothing."

The investigation stemmed from the arrest of Selma High teacher LaTanglia Williams on sex charges involving students at the school.

School Board Chairman Henry Hicks says the district plans to file their corrective action plan in about a week.
