City of Troy Expects Big Crowds at Downtown Tailgate

By Brittany Bivins

The City and the Pike County Chamber of Commerce will host downtown tailgates on Troy's square for home games this fall.

It's the second year for the event.

Many businesses around the square say they'll be offering special deals to football fans. There will also be live entertainment before kickoff and a large screen to show other big games across the state.

Last year, more than a hundred people came out for the tailgate each game, but organizers say they're planning for bigger crowds this season.

Since last year was our first year, this year we've had time to plan more and we're going to have time to promote more and encourage people to come downtown. Definitely looking at having bigger crowds downtown than we did last year," said Leigh Anne Windham with the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.

Troy kicks off the season with a home matchup against the UAB Blazers on

August 31st.
