City Sponsors Downtown Tailgates

By Sarah Cantey

The countdown is on in Troy for the university's game opener against UAB. Today dozens met in the square to kick off the season and promote the start of downtown tailgates, at the first Brown Bag Lunch in the square.

This will be the second year the city puts on tailgating and events before home games in downtown Troy. Businesses hope this will be a win for them.
Ivey Stephens a Glow employee said, "We are excited that the mayor and the city have worked so hard to schedule this type of event to bring so many people, so many local people and from all over to come downtown...It's great for the University it's also great for the city as well."
This Saturday's tailgate will start at 12 p.m. Kick off is 6 p.m. and there will be fireworks when the game is over.
