From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom--  The city of Selma is getting ready to kick-off it's spring tourism season with one of it's biggest tourist events of the year.

The annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee is about a month away. The Jubilee features about 40 individual events over a five day period highlighted by the bridge crossing re-enactment.

The event draws thousands of people and generates big bucks throughout the city each year.

"It's no doubt that the fact that our hotels and restaurants are being occupied as well as our downtown shopping store and mall benefit from people being in Selma and they're shopping Selma as well as citizens who live here, so the economic impact of that is tremendous," said Mayor George Evans.

The Jubilee starts February 28th and runs through March 4th.
