Bond Set For Troy University Student Charged With Manslaughter

By Sarah Cantey

The 19-year-old Troy University student charged with manslaughter goes before a judge. Taylor Driggers, 19, made his initial appearance today in the Crenshaw County courthouse.

Driggers is charged with manslaughter and is being held in jail on $100,000 bond. The charges stem from an incident just off Highway 29 near Luverne. According to District Attorney Charlotte Tesmer, 18-year-old Kristin Fuller was killed in the early morning hours of New Year's Day.

Details leading up to the shooting are not being released. But the DA says alcohol was a factor.

Driggers played football at Brantley High School and was on track to playing in college. According to Troy University, he signed to play Troy football in February 2013, but has yet to join the team. A statement from the university states he was anticipated to join the team in spring or summer of 2014.

In accordance with Troy University procedure, Driggers is suspended as a student pending the outcome of the investigation.

The judge ruled that Driggers will be essentially on house arrest when he makes bond. But, the District Attorney requested he not be released until Tuesday, giving time for Fuller's funeral.

The investigation is being handled by ABI, Crenshaw County Sheriff's office and the District Attorney.
