Authorities have found the body of 28-year-old Lamona Bender in the Coosa River near Fort Toulouse Road in Elmore County.

As CBS 8 News has reported, the young mother from Deatsville is believed to have left her two small children to "look for God."

Elmore county authorities tell us Bender was in distress and likely waded into the river and drowned.

Investigators had found clothes and a Bible on the shore. But they still don't know why she apparently abandoned her 5-year-old and 2-year-old children. They were found walking without clothes on Monday. The children are safe and are being cared for by family members.

An autopsy will be performed on Bender's body to determine the exact cause of death.
