Authorities have recovered the body of a Hale County man who went missing in the Black Warrior River in Greene County.

Divers recovered the body of 40 year old Christopher Averette of Moundville at around 10:30 Wednesday morning.

Authorities say Averette and John Ferrell of Greensboro were fishing near the Seldon Dam Tuesday afternoon -- when their was pulled under a spillway -- after it got too close to the dam.

They say the force of the water from the spillway destroyed the 18-foot boat and debris from the boat was found down-river.

Investigators say Ferrell was able to make it back to the shore -- but Averette was not. They say neither one of the two men were wearing life jackets.

The case remains under investigation by the Alabama Marine Police.
