Birmingham Soldier Dies In Afghanistan

A Birmingham soldier has been killed fighting in Afghanistan.

Private "Elijah" Milliard was on his first deployment from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. He died Thursday in Farah Province of Afghanistan, after his unit was attacked with a rocket-propelled grenade.

Milliard was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.
