Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport has been evacuated, according to airport officials.

The airport posted a message to its Facebook page, saying, "law enforcement officials are responding to a threat received around 4:00 p.m. The terminal has been evacuated. More details to follow."

The post did not elaborate on exactly what that threat was or how it was received.

Calls from Alabama News Network to airport officials were not immediately returned.
