Barry Mask Resigns Alabama House Seat

By Alabama News Network

Republican state Rep. Barry Mask is resigning his seat in the Alabama Legislature to concentrate on his new job as CEO of the Alabama Realtors.

Mask of Wetumpka was elected to the Legislature in 2006 and replaced former longtime Rep. Jack Venable.

Mask was named CEO of the Alabama Realtors in late May. He said Tuesday he waited to resign until some projects in his district were finished. Mask is former government affairs director of the Alabama Realtors.

He is chairman of the House Economic Development and Tourism Committee and chairman of the Legislative Building Authority.

Mask's district includes Elmore and Coosa counties. His resignation is effective Sept. 30.

Long before joining the Legislature, Mask was the first to serve as Auburn's mascot Aubie.
