Baby Rhino Dies Unexpectedly at Montgomery Zoo

By Alabama News Network

Montgomery Zoo officials say they are trying to figure out what killed a baby rhino.

The 4-month old rhino named Ethan was found dead at the zoo. The rhino was named after the Alabama boy who was rescued from a bunker in Dale County after being kidnapped from a bus and holed up in a bunker with a gunman for a week back in January.

Zoo officials say the boy visited the zoo and bonded with the rhino's mother, who was pregnant at the time.

An animal autopsy will be performed to figure out what caused the rhino's death.
