BMXers Race to Celebrate Olympic Day

By Alabama News Network

Every year, Olympic Day is celebrated by thousands of people, in more than 160 countries, honoring the birth of the modern Olympic Games.

In Prattville, 45 BMX riders, young and old, competed.

BMX was added as an Olympic sport in 2008.

Olympic sports like BMX are a great alternative to some of the more traditional sports.

I saw the video on the 10pm news. Those are some daring people to try that. It looks like a blast and like something my son and I could do together, as I thought I saw some older aged riders in the video. I think we will have to try that out, when is the next event at Prattville?

Alex, I responded to your question but don't see it yet - so trying again :/ Go to the page for the schedule and more info. They are racing tonight with practice from 6-7, race starts at 7pm. or Practice is on Fri night from 6pm-until. All ages race, several Dads raced for the first time on Sunday, I'm actually going to give it a shot myself I think :) Come on out any time - new faces are always welcome :)
