Authorities Bust Up Illegal Moonshine Operation in Lowndes Co.

From the West Alabama Newsroom--   The Lowndes County Sheriff and the ABC Board bust up an illegal moonshine operation in rural Lowndes County.

Sheriff John Williams says ABC agents found the still in a wooded area in the Collerine community.
Williams says 26 gallons of moonshine were recovered from an unoccupied trailer located nearby.
He says its the third still authorities have found and destroyed in the county this year.

"Anywhere from 70 to 80 percent of our accident fatalities in the state of Alabama and in the county period come from alcohol," said Williams.

Williams says no arrests have been made but the case remains under investigation by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
