A sales tax increase in Andalusia goes into effect today..

This means people shopping in Andalusia are paying a total of a 9.5 cents sales tax per dollar.

The Andalusia city council voted to increase the city sales tax by 1.5 cents back in May, making the city sales tax is 3.5 percent.

Half a penny will go to Andalusia city schools and one cent will help match funds in grants for future city improvements
