Alabama has signed transfer power forward Michael Kessens, who played last season at Longwood University.

Crimson Tide coach Anthony Grant said Monday that the 6-foot-9, 215-pound Kessens "brings a high skill level and strong basketball IQ to his position."

The Nyon, Switzerland, native averaged 13.7 points and 8.8 rebounds and started every game as a freshman at Longwood. Kessens will have three years of eligibility remaining after sitting out next season.

He scored a career-high and Big South Conference tournament-record 36 points against VMI in the quarterfinals.

Former Tulane guard Ricky Tarrant has already announced he is transferring to Alabama. Starting guard Trevor Lacey and center Moussa Gueye are leaving the program.
