The state of Alabama is trying to shut down Indian casinos in Atmore, Montgomery and Wetumpka.
Attorney General Luther Strange's office filed suit Tuesday against the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
The lawsuit asks a court to stop the use of illegal slot machines at the group's Wind Creek Casino in Atmore, the Creek Casino in Montgomery and the Creek Casino in Wetumpka.
Federal law doesn't allow state police to enforce state law on Indian lands. But the lawsuit says the Poarch Band can't operate slot machines or lotteries that are illegal everywhere else in Alabama.
Tribal officials didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
The lawsuit asks an Elmore County court to declare the gaming sites a public nuisance.

Lets build a casino over your Great Grandparents graves in their cemetery right next to your house and maybe you have to share the same driveway with people coming in and leaving from there. See how you all feel about it then...... Why do you think they support and sponsor all the things they do? For fun? Marketing! To get you to pay attention to them and go spend your hard earned money so they can gain more money. They ARE NOT a none charitable corporation!

OMG! Its illegal, the people voted on this years ago, and the people spoke to not have it. I don't care either way, but if the crooked legislature would pass a law to allow it or not. that would take care of it. Until then quit complaining, its all about MONEY and POWER.

Why on earth and how on earth can you say this is a nuisance. Do you realize how much money the Montgomery casino contributes to the Montgomery schools??? Politicians are literally crazy...and to think we elect these crazies...when they take office its all about power...Lets stand together as citizens and revolt. This is CRAZY!!!!!

This has went on long enough. It is time for the citizens of Alabama to stand tall against this. We are so far behind the times in this state and we have so many people out of work in this state I really don't see how we can continue to close down businesses that employ so many. We need to be able to vote as a state what we want and whichever way the vote goes move on from there. I live less than two miles from one of the casino's and have visited there one time so it's truly a person's choice if they decide to go. Like most citizens of this state I would like a voice in this.

Leave the Creek Indians alone. They provide jobs and give money to the schools.
