Air Ambulance Base in Wetumpka Closes its Doors

By Alabama News Network

An air ambulance base in Wetumpka is closing its doors.

Air Evac Lifeteam says the decision is effective immediately.

Company officials said low reimbursement rates combined with a low demand for patients is forcing the closure.

Employees were given the option to work with other positions in the company or to accept a severance package.

The base had been in operation since 2006.
