CBS 8 is covering Butler County, where a 9-year-old girl has died in an ATV accident.

It happened on a private dirt road off Wildwood Road around 6:30 Saturday night. The Butler County Sherriff's Office tells CBS 8 a daughter and her ex-step father were riding a four-wheeler, when the vehicle flipped off a 12-foot embankment. The 9-year-old child was killed and the ex-step father suffered minor injuries.

Sherriff Kenny Harden says the cause of the accident is uncertain.

"Anytime a child is involved, it touches the whole community. Condolences go out to the family and we're here trying to find out what happened so we can put some closure to it."

The name of the driver and passenger have not been released. This incident is still under investigation.

It would be nice if this would be taken off the air and not be shown. This 9 year old has a family who loves her dearly and they need to be respected and have a chance to grieve!!!They shouldn't have to worry about seeing and everyone else seeing where their baby lost her life at and the scenc .She also as younger siblings that doesn’t need to see it. Would you be airing where everyone knows???? Think about the family and the kids not a story!
