A 10-year old boy is killed and family members injured after a sign falls on them at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM).

Birmingham's mayor is calling for a thorough investigation after 10-year old Luke Bresette died, and his siblings and mother were seriously injured.

A flight information board weighing up to 400 pounds fell on the Kansas based family inside the airport.

Saturday, Bresette's mother has improved from critical to serious condition.

Airport officials don't know what caused the sign to fall but are investigating the accident.

BHM just finished the first part of a more than $200 million renovation and reopened concourses last week.
