"The Pacific" Features Auburn Native

AUBURN (WNCF) – The highly anticipated HBO series “The Pacific” premiered Sunday night and it featured an account from an Auburn native.

The late Pfc. Eugene B. Sledge’s story is featured in the miniseries, which was produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg.

Sledge wrote a memoir about his experience in the Pacific during World War II that served as guide for his portrayal in the show.

The Pacific airs on HBO Sundays at 9 PM.
