Roberts Speaks on Alito at Alabama

By WNCF Staff

TUSCALOOSA (WNCF) – Chief Justice John Roberts spoke at the University of Alabama today and talked about the controversial response from Justice Samuel Alito during President Obama’s State of the Union speech in January.

Roberts called the president’s speech “very troubling” and questioned why Supreme Court justices are even present at the event.

His colleague, Justice Alito, was criticized for mouthing the words “not true” after the president expressed his disapproval of the court’s decision to strike down limits on campaign contributions.

Justices historically do not react when the president speaks during the State of the Union.
