Battle Over Bingo in Senate Dead?

By WNCF Staff

MONTGOMERY (WNCF) – The battle over electronic bingo in the state Senate is over.

That’s what Democrats said Wednesday after they failed to garner the necessary votes to debate the issue. Supporters needed 24 votes to formally discuss the legislation, but were three votes short.

Republican Scott Beason says he’s already introduced new legislation that would allow the public to vote on legalizing electronic gambling.

Opponents claimed Wednesday’s proposed legislation was corrupt and gave monopolies to certain gaming establishments.
