Alabama Guard Returns From Afghanistan

By James Koontz

BIRMINGHAM (WNCF) - The 166th Engineer Company of Winfield is coming home. The company sent 160 of its members to Afghanistan last year as part of the 877th Engineer Battalion.

The 166th was responsible for building living quarters and guard towers at their Sharana base. Two soldiers were sent home last November for medical assistance after an attack on their base.

Soldiers will return to Camp Atterbury, Indiana for medical exams, and are expected to return to Alabama sometime this week.
