An Eclectic family is mourning the loss of a little girl after an early morning drive by shooting.

Just before three Tuesday morning, Kenyatta Kendrick was asleep in her bed on Nichols Avenue when a bullet hit her in the back.

Her uncle, asleep in another room, was hit twice-once in the thigh, and once in the foot.

He is in stable condition at Jackson Hospital.

Authorities found almost twenty shell casings around the yard, and say some even penetrated the house.

The Kendrick residence was the only house on the street hit.

The Elmore County Sheriff's Department is investigating this case and hasn't made any arrests yet.

“Right now we have two individuals that we are interviewing now that are persons of interest, we have a third individual that we are looking for,” said Chief Deputy Ricky Lowery, Elmore County Sheriff’s Department.

Both Eclectic Police and the Sheriff's Department will have an increased presence in the area in the coming days.

If anyone has information on this case, contact the sheriff's department at 334-567-5227.
