Superintendent Presser Turns Divisive

By Adam Bagni

In our Big Story tonight… a press conference held today was supposed to show unity between individuals involved in the city’s superintendent search. But instead, the tone turned divisive.

Members of the school board, elected officials, and business leaders all agreed to stop their racial comments and stand behind the candidate chosen by the Montgomery County Board of Education.

However, numerous spats arose between Mayor Todd Strange, City Council President Charles Jinright, and board members regarding the necessary qualifications for a superintendent – particularly in regards to interim Superintendent Clay Slagle.

The board is still considering their final two candidates.
