Hundreds of people showed up in downtown Montgomery to make big strides in finding a cure for arthritis.

It was the 2013 Arthritis Walk.

"Let's move together!" was the theme as arthritis walkers gathered at the Alley Station. After the warm up it was time to hit the road as Alabama News Network's Jamie Langley and Marcy Novak help lead the way to the capitol for a worthy cause.

Stuart Ebbinga was one of the walkers. "Until we started doing the walk and raising money, parents if they have a child they would have to go out of state. But since we've been doing this  we've been able to generate money to bring doctors to Alabama," said Ebbinga.

It's the donations that mean so much to give hope to people like Leyden Skipper, this year's walk honoree suffering from junior rheumatoid arthritis.

"Then we're going to come back and have a party because arthritis will stop hurting because we're going to find a cure with this money," said Skipper.

"There's so many people affected. People think it's just for the elderly and it's not. So many children affected by this horrible disease. We just want people to be aware, come out, support and donate," said walker Debbie Thomas.

The goal for the fundraiser was 42 thousand dollars. The Arthritis Foundation made a little over 40 thousand. There is still time to donate through the end of May.
