Auburn Comes Up Short In Upset Bid vs. #2 LSU

Sometimes your best just isn't enough, and for Auburn, that was the cold hard truth Saturday night in a 12-10 loss to #2 LSU in Jordan-Hare Stadium. After trailing 9-0, Auburn fought back to take a 10-9 lead into halftime. But Auburn would not score again and a 3rd quarter field goal by LSU would be enough to seal a victory for the Bayou Bengals.

Auburn head coach Gene Chizik said after the game that he was proud of his team's fight and it was unfortunate they had to come up on the short end of the stick in a great battle.

Although it was a loss, Chizik and players believe it was a step in the right direction for the struggling Tigers after playing the defending SEC Champs down to the final play.

Auburn falls to (1-3, 0-2) on the season with the loss. They have a bye week this week before hosting Arkansas in two weeks.
