Story Updated: May 28, 2010
(WLTZ) One Auburn land marker is in danger of being torn down.
The train depot is named as one of Alabama’s most endangered places for 2010 by the Alabama historical commission.
The depot was built about 1904 has been vacant since 2003.
The building's maintenance has not been kept up.
Now, there's a leaking roof, some broken windows and even vandalism.
Eric Stamp, Downtown Merchants Assoc., says, "For everybody to see that the building is not being used and its got an interesting layout and its right downtown...downtown is filled with businesses and to see one that could be so useful."
The purpose of the historic preservation list is to inform citizens that many historic places in Alabama are under threat of neglect or demolition.
Stamp says the train depot is up for sale, for nine hundred thousand dollars.
