Suit Dismissed in Birmingham Airport Sign Collapse
A Jefferson County Circuit Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit against a contractor that was temporarily involved with the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
The family of 10-year-old Luke Bresette, who was killed in March when a flight information sign fell onto him, filed a suit against contracting and design companies that installed the signs.
AL.com reports Monumental filed a motion for dismissal saying their contractors didn't install any of the flight information signs and said in depositions that they warned other contractors the displays were top-heavy and unsafe.
The company stopped working on the project after designers and fabricators said the signs would be free-standing and wouldn't be anchored to anything.
Attorneys for the Bresette family filed a motion Wednesday agreeing with Monumental Contracting's argument.
