Many at the Pike County Sheriff's Office describe their staff of thirty as a family. But with two father-son duos, it truly is a family affair.

Sergeant Mallory and Sergeant Wentland both have sons, Josh and Sam that are now deputy sheriffs in the department. Combined they share more than 55 years of experience.

Both families say they cant single out one day where their son's made a decision to pursue careers in law enforcement, they've simply grown up around it and always knew it is what they wanted to do.

Sergeant Mallory's is a 23-year veteran, and Sergeant Wentland's a 26-year veteran of the sheriff's office.

Sgt. Wentland said, "We've always been real close, we are best friends, always have been. Whatever we do we've always done together. Whether it's farming, working construction and working at the sheriff's office, it's just like him being with me everyday and it's just a blessing to have him with me everyday. He's my only son and I wouldn't take nothing for him."

Deputy Sam Mallory has been on the job 4 months. Deputy Josh Wentland worked in the jail for 5 years, but has been on patrol for two.
