After a decade of hard work and planning the new Alabama Voices museum opened this morning to a large crowd.

The new museum covers the last 300 years of alabama history, and spans 11,000 square feet.

Visitors can see more than 22 interactive areas including 6 indoor theaters, and individual exhibits.

Those detail important events in hisotry from the creek indian war, the civil rights movement, and the music of Hank Williams.

The project cost about 7,000,000 dollars, and museum officials say they hope the expansion draws more visitors to the museum.
