Alcohol and a Popular Painkiller
By Health Day
If you're planning on enjoying a cocktail or two...you may want to make sure you're not combining it with acetaminophen.
A new study shows that the combination of alcohol and acetaminophen...even in small doses- may be bad for your kidneys.
Researchers used data from more than 10-thousand people who took part in a large national health survey.. They analyzed information about alcohol consumption, use of acetaminophen and other health conditions.
Neither taking a therapeutic amount of this over-the-counter pain medicine...nor light to moderate drinking was a problem for the kidneys when done separately.
But when taken at the same time...the risk of kidney dysfunction went up 123-percent!
The researchers say while anyone who uses acetaminophen products should be mindful of these findings. they are especially concerned about young adults who tend to drink more alcohol.
