Diagnosing Heart Attacks in Women

Chest pain should not be the only factor when diagnosing heart attacks in women.

A new study in JAMA found when ER doctors asked female patients about their chest pain, including location and onset, it wasn’t helpful in making an accurate diagnosis.

Researchers found many women don’t have typical chest pain and that electrocardiograms and blood tests should also be part of the diagnosis.
